Kim Kapera (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist currently part of the Emerging Artist Residency program at Summit Artspace. Her passion for stories and culture has taken her all over the world, but has most recently been pursued through the lens of her Polish heritage. Her immersive exhibition, The Lucky Ship, explored her grandparents’ immigration story and legacy using textiles, laser etched acrylic portraits, photography, and poems. Her sister exhibit, Pożegnanie, was a reflection of the parallel grief in losing connection to the people and places we call home. Her work is rooted in recalling history and memories from the Polish diaspora to ensure culture is preserved and celebrated. Kim is interested in using traditional Polish folk art in modern applications, hosting engaging workshops for the local community, and fostering deeper conversation surrounding disconnection from our roots. Her work is narrative driven, and explores themes of nostalgia, identity, grief and joy. 

Kim studied photojournalism and French at Ohio University, and holds a bachelor's degree in visual communication. She recently completed two residencies in the spring of 2026, including the Akron Soul Train artist residency and the Creatives-In-Residence program at Kent State University.
